Although the delightful accommodation and town of Hora is far from the most luxurious place we have visited, in many ways its integrity and texture gave us the ultimate luxury: rarity. Original architecture, music that allows three generations to be playful together, shop owners who stay in their businesses year after year, bare hills untouched by human habitation, and people more interested in their community than tourist traffic are all to be treasured. Once these things go, they go forever. Greek culture is so strong that even the watered down version is interesting to us.
