We were already in love with the Greek Islands: the simple beauty of the whitewashed architecture; ancient setting on the Aegean; personality and passion of the people. But going that one level deeper into the real Greece, beyond the circuit of Rhodes, Crete or Mykonos, rewards you with quiet roads, panoramic views over empty rolling hills and sights of simple farm people living an entirely traditional life. We loved life on the clifftops in the medieval village of Hora, where picturesque pedestrian alleyways weave through the collections of three village squares, and islanders gather to work and play.
