Sometimes when I travel I am inspired to do more than seize the moment. I want the scene before me to
unroll for you the way it did for me with sounds, or the sweeps of a panoramic view.

When flying into East Kenya - the region in Africa to visit for anyone interested in ‘the great migration’ - a stopover in Nairobi is a necessity. Luckily it can also be an absolute delight. Our favourite accommodation just out of town is an elegant, honey-coloured stone manor house covered in vines with one very unique point of difference - it is also home to an entire herd of stately, graceful giraffes.
These beautiful creatures lope around the 140-acres grounds or come to the house and interact with the delighted guests. Needless to say, Giraffe Manor was a big hit with our daughter, Zoe. But the charm of the plush, country house surroundings and permanent other 16ft guests is not lost on the grown ups either - or glamorous clients like Richard Branson and Mick Jagger…
