Shompole's beautiful boutique is in its own stand alone pavilion located in main camp behind the lounge. The space they have created mirrors the design concept with its light and airy architecture, rough white walls and timber accents. The boutiques vaulted ceiling with exposed wooden beams, and Masai roped brush creates a beautiful canopy. Once again, the polished concrete floors follow the theme from the MAIN PAVILLION.
The boutique offers an extensive variety of MASAI and other African jewellery and artefacts. The boutique supports local Masai community projects, by selling items such as colourful children's cotton dyed prints. We bought a gorgeous one for Zoe, in green & pink (see photo) along with beads, necklaces and sandals.
The boutique also sold interesting hand made leather and beaded toiletry bags as as well as amazing coloured baskets completely covered in the tiny red and white beads the Masai use so well in their design.
The shop is well merchandised, and run by a lovely young woman, Kate. We spent a bit of time with Kate, as the camp was quiet when we were there, and Kate joined us for dinner one night.
